At SCH our 7th and 8th grade students participate in FIRST Tech Challenge. Guided by adult mentors and Team 1218 team members, our students build an 18"x18" robot with each year's game in mind. They also keep an engineering notebook to document their process. Our team competes in the Pennsylvania FTC Region against teams from across the state. They can qualify at the local tournaments for Super Regional play where they would compete against teams from other States. From there they would move on to World Championship competition.
It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Tech Challenge teams (up to 15 team members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format.
Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team.
