Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the suspended 2020 season, FIRST decided to have a replay of Infinite Recharge with an at home twist. For the first time in FIRST's history there were no in person events scheduled. Instead, teams were invited to take part in three virtual challenges that included judged awards.
In the Game Design Challenge teams developed a hypothetical FRC game. Teams were allowed to use real-world, virtual and/or hybrid elements to present their games.
For the second virtual challenge, FIRST expanded the Global Innovation Challenge common in FIRST Lego League (FLL) competitions. Teams were asked to design a solution to a problem related to 20-21 Game Changers.
Finally, in Infinite Recharge at Home teams play independently and demonstrate their robot and driving skills based on the Infinite Recharge game elements.
Team 1218, like all school teams, was very limited in what we do as a result of the mandatory health protocols. We did compete in all three challenges and won the Imagery Award for our Game Design Submission.
