This year's game had a retro 8-bit theme. Teams were required to place milk crates or "power cubes" on large balancing scales to tip the scale and gain ownership. Alliances could trade power cubes for power ups, giving them a temporary advantage. The end gam had robots climb the tower attached to the center balancing scale suing a rung attached to the tower.
Team 1218's "Venom" robot had issues that kept it from wining at events as we had enjoyed in the previous years.
In a balance scale game like a see saw, you must perform well in the autonomous portion to score points and get the balance in your favor. It's very difficult to catch up to a poor start.
While we made it to the semis and finals at several District and Regional Events, winning the District Quality and Engineering Excellence Awards earned 1218 entree into the World Championship, where we finished in the Quarter Finals of the Archimedes Division.
