The bar was made from broken Philadelphia Flyers carbon fiber hockey sticks. But what made us very effective and reliable was our stacking mechanism which brought totes inside the frame of our robot.
Team 1218 started slowly, losing in the quarterfinals of the Hatboro-Horsham District qualifier, but picked up dramatically two weeks later with the team winning both the event will alliance partners 225- Tech Fire and 204- Easter Robotics Vikings and winning the new Engineering Inspiration Award. Two weeks later at the Seneca District Event, 1218 won the event with Alliance partners 1640- SaBOTage and 5113- Combustible Lemons while also bringing home the District Chairmans' Award. At the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District Championships Team 1218 made it to the semi-finals and won the Regional Inspiration Award automatically qualifying the team for the World Championships. The team had a good showing at the World Championship making it to the finals of the Hopper Division.
