Aerial Assist is played by two competing alliances on a flat 25' x 54' field, straddled by a truss suspended just over five feet above the floor. The objective is to score as many balls in side perimeter goals as possible. The more the Alliance work together to score their balls in the goals, the more points their Alliance receives.
Our 2014 robot, 'Vulcan Vector', was the first time we used a monocoque chassis, very strong and very light. We used an aluminum ladder for the catapault and had a great over-the bumper intake, we referred to as "touch it, own it" because it was that good at capturing the balls. It's better to produce all parts in-house, if possible, and became our goal going forward.
