Logo Motion celebrated the 20th season of the FIRST Robotics Competition. The playing pieces were inner tubes shaped like the components of the FIRST logo. The main goal was to place the tubes on racks to gain points. In the endgame, robots released minibots to climb a tower.
Team 1218 experienced highs and lows-- some mechanical failures and some engineering breakthroughs. We created 32 minibots designs until we settled on our final product. Not to be wasted and in the spirit of Gracious professionalsim, we gave one of our better performing minibot prototypes to a team that didn't have their own for the endgame play.
The team did well in competition winning the Industrial Design Award twice as well as the Coopertition Award. We won the Chesapeake Regional at the US Naval Academy and again qualified for the FIRST World Championship, where we made it to the elimination rounds of the Galileo Division, losing to the #1 alliance in the quarter finals.
