January 27th, 2017

Coming up on week 4, 1218 has been working hard on our robot! From training new freshman to working on CAD, programming, and mechanics, everyone has been very busy. Other students have also been writing our Chairmans Award and Entrepreneurship Award submissions. Many things are going on all at once in the lab, but each member is helping in are work. Happy build season! This past weekend, 1218 celebrated kickoff at Hatboro-Horsham High School. The mood was very intense as teams from all over the Mid-Atlantic region anxiously awaited the announcement of the new game. After the announcement, 1218 saw the components of the game on the stage, got our materials, and hopped back in the vans back to SCH. Following that, the team enjoyed a delicious lunch while reading through the rules packet. We started right away brainstorming what we need to have, want, and wish and even came up with preliminary strategies and prototypes! Finally, 1218 finished off the night at Andy’s Dinner for a captain hosted kickoff dinner. That’s all for today, and we are optimistic about this season!

FLL and FLL Jr. Event at SCH

December 11th, 2017

This Saturday, members of 1218 volunteered at the FLL and FLL Jr. event tournament on December 2nd at Springside Chestnuthill Academy. Over 24 teams of students in lower and middle school competed. FRC students have had a great time mentoring the SCH FLL and FLL Jr. teams. In addition, 1218 members helped at the event to direct the teams, organize set up, and familiarize those coming to the event with our campus. FRC members felt it was great to inspire young students and involve them in STEM at a young age!Inline image 1

November 1st, 2017

Team 1218 has been getting busy preparing for this season! Last Saturday, the team competed at their second off-season competition of the year, the Duel on the Delaware. The event was hosted at Salem Community College in Carneys Point, NJ. Our robot was 10th in qualification and made it to the quarterfinals. Afterward, many of the of the students stayed to help with field reset. Now the team is prepared for the Ramp Riot competition on Saturday at Wissahickon HS.

Additionally, the team has been sponsoring a community service project to donate legos. The collection is still going on the robotics lab, so bring in those legos before it’s too late! Best of luck this week to the whole 1218 team!
